Rise of Kingdoms KvK Preparation: A Practical Alliance Checklist

KVK CHECKLIST
By Marcus Vance • 8 min read

Coordinate before the map gets busy

Kingdom versus Kingdom (KvK) is seasonal, alliance-driven conflict. Individual power helps, but timing, territory, diplomacy, and communication shape what a kingdom can accomplish. First understand your alliance’s plan: where members should gather, which objectives matter, what troop types are needed, and how casual players can contribute.

Do not rely on an old event calendar or copied timeline. KvK rules and seasonal formats vary; in-game text is authoritative. Ask leadership for current objectives and activity windows. If you cannot attend every fight, be honest about your schedule and focus on a role you can maintain: gathering, scouting, reinforcement, or scheduled participation.

Prepare the account, not just one march

A war march needs suitable commanders, troop type, technology, and equipment where applicable. Prioritize a march you can actually field with current investment. Several half-developed march types are less useful than one coherent force that fits alliance strategy. Review commander skills and talents, confirm troop availability, and check the march before leaving the city.

Preparation areaCheck before conflictWhy it matters

If your alliance uses voice or chat coordination, keep messages clear and follow calls. Do not independently attack or teleport into a contested area without understanding the objective; uncoordinated marches can be defeated without helping the operation.

Manage healing and resources

Troop healing can consume large quantities of resources and time. Keep a reserve rather than spending everything on construction before an operation. Check hospital capacity and understand current rules for exceeding it. Use alliance help and healing-related rewards where appropriate, but do not treat speedups as free.

Resource tokens can serve as a reserve until needed, while exposed city resources may be vulnerable in hostile conditions. Open only what is necessary, keep gathering in safer areas, and heed alliance protection instructions. Your plan should include likely healing, not just the next building upgrade.

Spend AP and speedups strategically

KvK periods can include objectives involving barbarians, forts, or other map activities. Save enough AP for alliance tasks, but avoid letting it remain capped if there is a safe opportunity to spend. Check event descriptions before using recovery items. Speedups and training resources are best used when they support a plan or favorable event, not because others are spending.

Training troops, research, and healing can contribute to development events. If your schedule permits, align them with rewards. However, do not jeopardize readiness for a small milestone. An unhealed army at the start of a major objective can cost more than the points gained by rushing a timer.

Contribute in a way you can sustain

Not every member needs to lead rallies or fight continuously. Lower-power or time-limited players can gather, reinforce structures when directed, scout according to policy, support logistics, or complete safe PvE objectives. Experienced members can advise on commanders and when to disengage. Ask before reinforcing or occupying a target because troop roles and capacity matter.

After a major battle, review reports and discuss what worked. Compare losses, commanders, troop type, and timing. Avoid broad conclusions from one report: buffs, terrain, target composition, and rally support change outcomes. Adjust one part and coordinate the next attempt.

Reset after the season

When conflict slows, heal troops, rebuild reserves, return to development research, and review commander investment. KvK is a cycle, so preparation should not leave the account unable to function afterward. Save notes on alliance instructions and march performance, then use them next season. Preparation succeeds when you contribute meaningfully and still recover for the next stage of kingdom life.

Before the season, agree on a communication channel and where to find instructions if you miss a live briefing. Keep a short personal checklist with your intended march, reserve resources, and safety plan. During conflict, revisit it as conditions change rather than following a stale plan. Members who communicate their availability and follow coordinated calls often provide more value than players who enter fights without knowing the current objective.
